INGREDIENTS
- 1 jar of Wildly Delicious Peppermint Fudge Sauce
- ¾ cup salted butter
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- ¾ cup cocoa
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ - ½ cup of crushed candy cane
DIRECTIONS
The day before you’re set to bake, line a 9 x 9 dish with parchment paper and spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Microwave our WD Peppermint Fudge Sauce for 10 – 20 seconds until it softens to a pourable consistency. Pour it onto the parchment paper, cover, and freeze over night.
When you are ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F. Your Peppermint Fudge sauce should be mostly frozen. Keep it wrapped in the freezer but get your 9 x 9 pan and line it with new parchment paper and set aside on the counter to warm to room temperature.
On the stove, over medium heat, melt the butter in a medium pot. Remove from the heat and stir in the white sugar until it dissolves.
Once that is combined, mix in your cocoa until thoroughly combined into the mixture. Let that sit to the side to let your cocoa bloom and the mixture cool a little.
Beat in the eggs until fully incorporated, then add in the vanilla.
Add in your flour and barely stir it in. This will prevent the brownies from being too cakey. You want to just mix the flour into the batter.
Pour ½ of the batter in your baking dish then add your Peppermint Fudge Square and top that with the remaining batter. Sprinkle the crushed candy cane on top for an extra flourish and bake for 30-40 minutes.
Just until the brownies pull away from the edges slightly and a toothpick inserted comes out fairly clean, with no raw batter on the stick. A few crumbs sticking to the toothpick means they are baked and fudgy inside.
