Greek Souvlaki Chicken and Pork Pitas

   

Enjoy this sunny, summer dish year-round!  Souvlaki is just as yummy oven-roasted as it is on the grill!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1kg of chicken breast, pork or lamb
  • 1/2 Bottle of WD Souvlaki Marinade
  • Tzatziki Sauce
  • 1 to 2 Tomatoes sliced
  • 1 Cucumber sliced
  • ½ Red Onion sliced
  • Sliced kalamata olives
  • Lemon wedges

 

DIRECTIONS

Step 1

Cut your chicken, pork, or lamb into 1in cubes. Add a half bottle of our WD Souvlaki Marinade and toss until all pieces are coated, cover and marinate for 30 min to overnight.  If doing a mix of meats, marinate each meat separately.

Step 2

If you’re using wooden skewers, soak them in water for a few minutes for 10 to 30min.  Take your meats from the fridge and start to prepare your skewers adding 6 to 7pc of chicken or pork on each. Discard any remaining marinade.

Step 3

Season your skewer with salt to taste just before start cooking.  Cook your skewers on your BBQ, fry them in a pan, or broil them in the oven, turning them to cook evenly and get a good color on all the sides. Baste with extra sauce if desired.

Step 4

Serve the skewer on pita bread with Tzatziki OR our Roasted Red Pepper & Feta Spread, tomatoes, cucumber and onions and kalamata olives slices and lemon wedges on the side.

If desired, you can add feta cheese too your pitas
