Who doesn't love a slider, meaty with gooey cheesy goodness? This sweet slider is a crowd pleaser for sure!
This recipe is for a dozen sliders.
Ingredients:
- 1½ lb. Sirloin tip steak (about 2 [ ¾"-thick] steaks)
- 4 Tbs. unsalted butter.
- 2 Tbs. vegetable oil,
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced into half-moons (about 1/8”)
- 1 large green bell peppers, seeds and ribs removed, thinly sliced.
- 1 Cup (half bottle) of WD Spiced Tomato Everything Sauce #1
- 12 Mini Hawaiian rolls
- ¼ C mayonnaise
- 6 to 8 slices Swiss or provolone cheese
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400°F
Directions:
- Freeze steaks for about 20 minutes, just until firm and very cold; then slice steak against the grain thinly, about ¼” - 1/8” in thickness.
- In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, heat 1Tbs of oil and 1Tbs of butter. Add onion and bell pepper, season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender and just turning golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer onion & pepper mixture to a plate.
- In the same skillet, over medium-high heat, heat remaining 1 Tbs of oil. Add steak, season with salt and pepper. Cook, tossing occasionally, until steak just lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Return veggies to skillet and toss to combine with steak and warm through. Add a ½ bottle of our WD Spiced Tomato Everything Sauce #1, toss to combine. Turn the burner off but leave skillet on the stove top to stay warm.
- Using a bread knife, slice rolls in half horizontally. Arrange halves on a small baking sheet, spread some butter and lightly toast in the oven, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Spread mayonnaise in an even layer on both sides of the buns, top the bottom part of the buns with steak mixture, top with cheese. Remove the top of the buns from the baking sheet and return the bottom to the oven to melt cheese 5 to 10 minutes.
- Close the sandwiches, spread a bit of butter on top and bake sliders for 5 more minutes or until buns are golden.
Serve hot with a side of WD Spiced Tomato Everything Sauce #1 for dipping.
